Marketing or Branding

Over the last couple of years, I met a good few people while working on their business strategies improving and promoting their business online and offline.

The issue which arises is the lack of understanding by the clients when it comes to Marketing and Branding. They get confused and very frustrated because they don't understand what is marketing, what is branding and how to utilise them correctly?!

There is a big aura around Marketing and Branding and a lot of people are getting confused about it, so I would like to share my own opinion and the way I see the two.

So, what is Marketing and what is Branding?

Marketing!

Marketing has a lot of explanations, but the way I see marketing is - Marketing is a process of communicating or delivering a specific or target message from one point (Person/Group/Business or Brand) to another point (Person/Group/Business or Brand)!

So, we use marketing and all of its components (strategy, process, communication, etc) to promote our ideas, thoughts, products and services to others.

There are different ways of marketing communication, but the two main ones are - B2C (Business to Customer) and B2B (Business to Business).

Also, marketing uses different channels to convey messages across by using traditional and digital marketing. 

Traditional channels would be TV, Radio, Newspapers, Posters, Word of Mouth, etc... 

Digital Marketing channels would be Social Media, Blogging, Websites, PR, etc...

Branding!

While on the other side we have Branding! 

Branding is part of Marketing and marketing strategy, but it is also known as a method of delivering the message that your brand (business, persona, etc) wants to promote to the followers, customers, clients, etc...

Branding is not only one thing - Logo! 

Branding is a method that uses different tools to promote your brand message, which includes the Logo, Images, Fonts, Messages, People, Objects, etc...

The easiest way to explain what branding is - It is the way we talk, walk, express ourselves and present ourselves in front of others using all of our traits.

In the nutshell, Marketing is Everything! 

Your business or Yourself can be very successful if the correct marketing strategy and branding are used to present and deliver correct messages from your brand to your audience.
